When placed side-by-side, the photos appear like a turning kaleidoscope.
The idea of shooting such structure was prompted by a friend who once displayed 30 images of winding stairs.
"I was fascinated and wanted to take some photos too," Li said, adding winding stair design caught his attention also because of his work with interior decoration.
Some online friends offered him tips on the locations of winding stairs in Guangzhou.
Li estimates about 100 sets of winding stairs remain to be shot in Guangzhou but some of the building housing them are not open to the public yet.
