Two buildings in Central China's Henan province, which won silver awards from an international design awards competition in Italy, have drawn attention for their unique designs.
Silver awards in the A' Design Award & Competition were given to the two buildings as part of the 2018-2019 design awards in Milan, Italy in April. There were 2,437 winners this year from 106 countries and regions in 98 different design disciplines.

The two buildings are the Exhibition Center of Zhengzhou Linkong Biopharmaceutical Park and Zhengzhou Zhongrui Headquarter in Zhengzhou city, the provincial capital.
They were designed by H-change Group, an integrated real estate development enterprise.

The Exhibition Center of Zhengzhou Linkong Biopharmaceutical Park is in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone. Its architectural form was inspired by double-helix DNA, which is also the totem mark of the biomedical industry, according to a report by chinatimes.net.cn.
The report also said the Exhibition Center showed the unique features of the biomedical industry characterized by a sense of science and technology, insight into the future, pure and rigorous attitude towards scientific research and humanistic care for its users.

Another project, Zhengzhou Zhongrui Headquarter, is a financial office building in Zhengdong New District. Its design adopted the concept of "Ice Crystal", with the two towers wrapped up by shining glass walls.
It also has an innovated design for offices. There was a huge, sunny atrium open to the air and connected to its surrounding structures, providing people there a more user-friendly working environment.

Entries for the competition were evaluated by an internationally influential jury panel composed of established scholars, prominent press members, creative design professionals and experienced entrepreneurs who carefully analyzed each entry, according to ArchDaily.

The A' Design Award & Competition is regarded as the highest achievement in European design fields. Its design works have exceptional design excellence in products, projects and services, the report said.
There are five levels for the awards: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron A' Design Awards, which are distributed annually.
