Chenshan Botanical Garden in Shanghai holds a showcase of water lilies from Aug. 18 to Sep. 18.
More than 300 members of the Nymphaeales family of flowering plants are on exhibition in seven sections, each designed to feature a theme, such the Chinese film The Wandering Earthand Rubik's Cubes.
A total of 20 species are making their debut appearance at Chenshan, including the N.'Lyra', a new type cultivated by the botanical garden. There are also 160 tropical species and 30 cold-resistant species.
Known in Chinese as the "sleeping lotus", water lilies bloom in summer, with blossoms usually in blue and purple.
During the exhibition, Chenshan Botanical Garden will organize educational lectures and interactive events like treasure hunting gamesto help visitors learn about the plant and its representation in art and literature.
