Fahua is a low-temperature form of porcelain with a colored glaze involving a variety of hues such as blue, green, yellow, purple and white.
Originating in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), its production was halted after Emperor Yongzheng's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). During the 300 to 400 years of its development, the production and manufacturing level of Fahua reached an unprecedented height. With its technical sophistication, gorgeous appearance and lively low-temperature glaze colors, Fahua remains unique in the history of Chinese ceramics.
Since its founding in 2010, Zhaoyuan Kiln has pursued a mission to revitalize the craft of Fahua porcelain. After overcoming many difficulties, the team finally succeeded in reviving it and made it possible for people around the world to see the beauty of its techniques.
