Chongli, once one of the country's poorest areas, has become a popular skiing destination as it will host most of the skiing events at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Chongli, a district of Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province which is 200 kilometers northwest of Chinese capital Beijing, has become a popular skiing destination as it will host most of the skiing events at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
The once one of the country's poorest areas, has shaken off poverty this year as a series of Winter Olympics-themed activities took place here.
A lot of preparations have been made to greet the 2022 Winter Olympic Games including the construction of the competition venues and the Beijing-Chongli highway, which links Beijing and Zhangjiakou's Chongli district. The highway will enable self-driving shuttle buses to bring athletes and coaches from one game zone to another, which might be the first of its kind in China.
