The “Temple of Buddhism, Silk Road and the Yangtze River -- Dunhuang Fresco Artworks Exhibition” was held at China Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing on Thursday. This is the first time that Dunhuang fresco artworks were on display in Chongqing.
The exhibition used modern digital technology to replicate frescoes with high fidelity, selected 33 representative frescoes since the Southern and Northern Dynasties (220 ? 589) from Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes and Guazhou Yulin Grottoes. The themes included Buddhist stories, Buddhist Statues, Flying Apsaras, Caisson Pattern, etc.
Organized by the Dunhuang Academy, China Dunhuang Grottoes Conservation Research Foundation, China Three Gorges Museum, Chongqing Publicity and Culture Development Foundation, the free exhibition will run until August 15, 2021.
