Guzhao Highway, ranging from Gufu township to Zhaojun Bridges in Yichang City, stretches 10.9 kilometers at full length, among which 4.4 kilometers were constructed above the river in the valley fearing deforestation, and giving the reputation “the Highway on Water.”
The highway got its name for its location at the hometown of Wang Zhaojun (51 B.C.-15 B.C.), a woman popularly known as one of the “Four Beauties” in ancient China.
During the Autumn season, the highway is shrouded with picturesque scenery of green mountains and lush waters from the roadside.
