The rotor of No.9 million-kilowatt unit of Baihetan Hydropower Station was lifted into place on Sunday. So far, a total of 16 rotors, considered as "hearts" of hydro-generating units, have been installed.
The Baihetan hydropower station is located on the Jinsha River, the upper section of the Yangtze River in southwest China. The hydropower station will have a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts. It will be equipped with 16 hydro-generating units, each with a capacity of 1 million kilowatts, the largest single-unit capacity in the world.
