With a history of about 600 years, the Teochew Opera prominent in the Guangdong and Fujian areas was listed as the national intangible cultural heritage in 2006.
Teochew opera, also known as Chaoju opera, is performed in Chaozhou dialect and becomes popular in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Europe and America.
