Mausoleum of Qinshihuang, the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), is located at the foot of Lishan Mountain, 35 kilometers northeast of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. It was constructed over 39 years, from around 246 to 208 BC. With an area of 56 square kilometers, the mausoleum is the world's largest underground mausoleum. An army of life-sized terra cotta warriors and horses were discovered at the site of the tomb in 1974.
