Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region plans to complete the building of a total of 4,000 kilometers of railway lines as of 2025, according to the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and the medium- and long-term railway network plans .
By 2025, the construction of several railway projects, including the Ya'an-Nyingchi section of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway, the Xigaze-Pelku Lake section of the Xinjiang-Tibet Railway and the Bomi-Ranwu section of the Yunnan-Tibet Railway, will all see major progress, according to the plan.
The region's rail network will reach 5,000 km by 2035, the plan said. A comprehensive railway network linking Lhasa, the regional capital, to neighboring provinces, including Qinghai, Yunnan and Sichuan, as well as major land ports, will also be formed by 2035.
