The Shouhuang Hall was built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and the current one dates back to emperors Qianlong (1711-99) of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) with a total area of 21,256 square meters and a total construction area of 3797.68 square meters. It is the second largest architectural complex on the central axis of Beijing.
