Netflix reveals what people like to watch through the day

It seems that people prefer their eggs with a side of comedy, a new study has found.

Netflix has analyzed the viewing patterns of its customers and found 34% of subscribers who access the platform at 6 am are choosing episodes of classic comedies and mainstream sitcoms.

It was also discovered that users enjoyed dramas on their lunch break, thrillers at dinner and documentaries for a late night snack.

Binge-watching is said to have started when Netflix made the bold move of releasing an entire season of 'House of Cards' in 2013.

Now that consumers are no longer bound by the constraints of television schedules, they are able to watch any genre at any time of the day.

'For years our lives had to fit around television, now it's the other way around,' said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content.

'We've given consumers control and it's interesting to see the behaviors that emerge when viewers aren't tied to a schedule.'

'And even more so to see that these routines are replicated by millions the world over.'
