Show some respect. Picky people will ruin their marriages; especially, those who can't help exploding at their spouse's mistakes and humiliating the latter in public. Unfortunately, such behavior works perfectly in driving her/him away and ending the marriage.
It's better to accept the flaws in your spouse and show enough respect to her/him. Try to ignore the small stuff as long as you are in love and still intend to keep the marriage working. Moreover, you can't always be right. Think twice and try on her/his shoes before you begin nagging her/him.
Making a fuss about your spouse's downfalls can be harmful. It's not wise to cover everything in your marriage life for your spouse and even less wise to resent when they fail to respond to your efforts. Such behavior can certainly introduce pressure to the other one and is harmful to a healthy marriage.
Remember, you should work together as a couple: share love and share responsibilities. This means working through situations as a team rather than taking on everything by oneself.
Are you too busy to care? Once you get married, you have the obligation to spend time with your spouse. Don't label yourself as a super busy person and use it as an excuse to get away. Some may say that couples need space for themselves, but intimacy is more important for a long-lasting marriage.
Even if your career is just taking off and you have to be fully committed to it, make sure your mate can understand your situation. Meanwhile, take Friday or Saturday night, surprise your spouse with a date, and tell the latter that you're busy, but you care.
