Mustard adjusts internal secretion
Although it scares many away because of its sharp and bitter taste, mustard is helpful for digestion and can help speed up metabolism.
But, it is the taste, especially mixed into a paste with vinegar, that gave off a medicinal smell long before its health benefits were discovered. Many even started to realize that mustard is better than a vitamin for the skin.
Mustard seeds are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids as well as calcium, dietary fiber, magnesium, selenium, and zinc. Selenium is a nutrient that has been shown to help reduce asthma, arthritis, and certain cancers. Magnesium also reduces asthma and lowers blood pressure. The effects of mustard are currently being studied for menopausal women and on migraine attacks.
Cumin seeds, good for digestion
Cumin has been used in China as a condiment or spice for a long time. Those who are of the opinion that spices are bad for health should note that cumin can be beneficial for some of their most dreaded diseases.
Cumin is extremely good for digestion and related problems. The very smell of it, which comes from an aromatic organic compound called cuminaldehyde, the main component of its essential oil, activates our salivary glands in our mouth, facilitating the primary digestion of food. Next is thymol, a compound present in cumin, which does the same to the glands which secrete acids, bile, and enzymes responsible for complete digestion of the food in the stomach and the intestines.
Cumin is also carminative because it relieves you from gas troubles and thereby improves digestion and appetite. Due to its essential oils, magnesium and sodium content, it promotes digestion and also gives relief to stomachaches when taken with hot water.
