P03 Sculpting In Time
For anyone with the habit of drinking coffee while indulging in a book or a movie, Sculpting In Time will be a familiar name.
The chain now offers plenty of outlets in Beijing, most of which are portals back to US college town coffee shops. Decorated with old movie posters and furnished with blonde wood tables and bookshelves, these cafes sell soups, sandwiches, pasta and a variety of seasonally appropriate beverages. It also offers a Western-style breakfast menu until 11am.

P04 Timezone 8
This is a café and book store, where small photo and painting exhibitions frequently make the rounds. Most of the books are imported and fit into three categories: photography, architecture and Chinese art history.
Partly because 90 percent of the books sold in Timezone 8 are in English, most long-time regulars are foreigners whose presence enhances the New York style of the store.
Sandwiches, bagels, pasta, or any Western food you want you can find on the menu at Timezone 8.

P05 Le Petit Gourmand
This is a French style restaurant-library where book shelves separate the inner space into two different segments. One is bright for diners, the other dim and cozy for readers. The books are not for sale, but rather donated by customers of Le Petit Gourmand for the clientele's borrowing pleasure.
Now that winter is approaching, the blazing fireplace makes this an ideal place for a cup of coffee and some literary escapism. And if that doesn't make you forget the cold, there is live Jazz every Monday and Wednesday.
Address: Third floor in Tongli Bar, No.43 Sanlitun North Street, Chaoyang District.
