China welcomes dairy companies from the United States and other countries to explore its vast market and take part in the country's growth opportunities, said a senior commerce official.

Chinese Vice-Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen said in his meeting with Krysta Harden, president and CEO of the U.S. Dairy Export Council, in Beijing on Tuesday that China and the U.S. are each other's key trading partners, with the U.S. being China's second-largest source of dairy imports. The dairy trade exemplifies mutual benefit and win-win outcomes in bilateral trade, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.

China is currently advancing modernization through high-quality development. The dairy product consumer market holds immense potential, offering extensive opportunities for global players, said Wang, who also is China international trade representative.

Harden said that U.S. dairy companies highly value the Chinese market and aspire to establish long-term cooperative relationships with Chinese partners. The council will continue to facilitate connections between the industries of both countries to enhance trade, investment and technological cooperation.
