The nation's first large-sized liquefied natural gas carrier featuring Mark III technology was delivered two months ahead of the contract delivery date on Monday by Shanghai-based Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co Ltd.
Named "Al Shelila," the vessel was the first of the six 175,000 cubic meters LNG carriers ordered by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Logistics &Services in 2022. By receiving this order, Jiangnan Shipyard has become the nation's first shipbuilder to construct LNG carriers equipped with the Mark III membrane system.
Developed and designed independently by Jiangnan Shipyard, the vessel follows the latest design concept and comprises the characteristics of being mainstream, reliable, and environmentally friendly at the same time.
Based on its solid experience, sophisticated technology, craftsmanship and management, Jiangnan Shipyard merely spent 19 months in constructing the ship, two months ahead of its delivery schedule.
With its history back to 1865, Jiangnan Shipyard is a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corp (CSSC), and the shipyard has constructed and delivered more than 2,800 vessels to date.
