China Eastern Airlines received its ninth C919 jetliner from its manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC) on Thursday in Shanghai, expanding its C919 fleet to nine, according to the Shanghai-based carrier.
The fifth C919 plane China Eastern received this year is the first C919 with local area network, which allows passengers onboard to better enjoy the in-flight entertainment via their personal mobile electronic devices including mobile phone, tablet and laptop upon connection with wi-fi.
A special content library has been designed for the local area network, and the content will be constantly updated and expanded.
According to the airline, which is the first global customer of C919, the new service will keep getting optimized after the trial operation, and it will become available in all C919 aircraft of China Eastern in the future.
