Over 70% of men willing to surrender payroll cards to spouses

(ECNS) -- More than 70 percent of Chinese men would like to have their payroll cards kept by their spouses, while women in Beijing and Shanghai had the strongest motivation to manage family fortunes compared to their counterparts in other parts of China, showed a new survey.

According to the survey conducted by Chinese dating website zhenai.com, among its 100 million members, 72.7 percent of men said they were willing to give payroll cards to their wives, and another 12.57 percent said they were reluctant to do so, but "would still like to give if that makes her happy."

The survey also found that as many as 83.33 percent of men in Shenzhen city were willing to surrender their payroll cards, followed by those in Beijing, accounting for 72 percent, and in Wuhan for 68.6 percent.

Women in Beijing were the most eager to manage their spouses' fortunes, with 92.3 percent saying they would like to do so, followed by women in Shanghai at 85.7 percent and Nanjing's 76 percent.

Zhang Shasha, a love and marriage expert with zhenai.com, said men and women should not force their partners to surrender their payroll cards to the family coffers in the name of love. Instead, they should do their best to reach a consensus on finance management.

Another option is that husbands and wives take care of their own fortunes after contributing to the "family fund," or take turns at management, Zhang suggested.

Spouses should try to find a wealth management mode suitable for them and the family, and it is unwise to compromise family harmony over finance matters, she notes.
