(ECNS) -- A 300-meter-long abandoned road in a Beijing suburb has been changed into a road that can"sing".
The musical road is located at Xizhuangdian Village, close to the odd slope of Qianlingshan Park, a scenic spot 30 kilometers away from the downtown.
With elaborate design, the road is lined with music slots, set 2 and 3 centimeters apart. The 30 or 50 slots form a syllable. Friction caused by cars passing results in up-and-down sounds, with the syllables forming a melody.
Driving along the special road at a constant speed of 35-40 km per hour, you will hear the song of "Ode to the Motherland", which lasts 30 seconds.
The road was used to transport coal, and abandoned after the local mine was shut down. Some locals started building the musical road and connected it with Qianlingshan Park at the beginning of this year.
