(ECNS) -- The cumulative power generation capacity of the No. 1 and 2 units of Hainan Nuclear Power has exceeded 10 billion kWh for the first time as of Dec. 13, 2022, hitting a record high since both units were put into operation, according to the facility.
At present, the cumulative power generation of both units in the first phase of Hainan Nuclear Power Project has exceeded 60 billion kWh, equivalent to saving 18.72 million tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 48 million tons and sulfur dioxide emissions by 150,000 tons, or equaling afforestation of 127,000 hectares.
It will help optimize Hainan's energy structure, promote green and low-carbon development, and ensure local power grid and energy supply.
Both the No. 1 and 2 units have kept a record of safe and stable operation of over 1,400 days to date.
