(ECNS) -- The world's first ultra-large liquefied gas carrier, capable of carrying 93,000 cubic meters of liquefied gas, independently developed by Chinese manufacturer Jiangnan Shipyard, is scheduled to be delivered to Singapore company Petredec on Wednesday.

The vessel is 230 meters long and 36.6 meters wide. It is the first fourth-generation Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC)-type ship independently developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipyard.

Compared with similar products at home and abroad, the vessel has strong advantages in performance, according to the manufacturer. It is the first time that a self-developed innovative energy-saving rudder bulb system has been applied, which makes the vessel's speed lead the international advanced level.

Domestically produced low-temperature steel was also used on the vessel, greatly compressing the procurement cycle. The ship uses dual-fuel power, with a fuel endurance of 23,000 nautical miles, while fuel and gas consumption levels meet the latest emission requirements set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Since 2012, Jiangnan Shipyard has received orders for 52 large liquefied gas carriers, including 14 orders for the 93,000 cubic meter type. Currently, Jiangnan Shipyard's global market share in the field of large liquefied gas carriers has reached 24.7 percent.
