Live streams with tribal people attracts 4 million viewers, $140k in sales
(ECNS) -- A live streaming event featuring three tribal people on Douyin attracted nearly 4 million viewers with online sales totaling over one million yuan (about $ 142,182.80) on Sunday, according to Lanjing news.
Li Yi, an adventure vlogger with 6.45 million fans, invited the three people who lived in tribes of a primitive Papua New Guinea forest to China to help sell products through his livestreaming event.
The three guests didn’t say anything, but danced to some music during the broadcast. They livestreamed for four times, each lasting about two hours.
Some netizens criticized Li for exploiting primitive people for profit. Li defended for himself however, stating he had lived with them for six years and returned to China this time to take one of them to a hospital for treatment.
