15 models of Beijing's central axis architecture make their debut in Beijing

(ECNS) -- A total of 15 models of cultural heritages on the central axis of Beijing made their debut on Saturday at a capital exhibition.

The exhibition focuses on the history the central axis, photographic works, cultural and creative products, interactions with the audience, allowing the public to further understand the value of the world cultural heritage

The 15 heritage models adopted colors of their porotypes, such as traditional China red, gray, green, yellow, white, and brown, in an attempt to recreate the appearance of ancient architecture along the central axis.

The awarding ceremony of the cultural and creative product competition, a part of the Central Axis cultural heritage inheritance and innovation competition, was held at the same time. The competition aims to fully mobilize public protection of Beijing's central axis, and encourage people to contribute to the inheritance of the cultural heritage.

The Beijing Central Axis stretches a total of 7.8 kilometers, from the Yongding Gate in the south, running through the Tiananmen Square complex and the Forbidden City, up to the Bell and Drum Towers in the north.

It consists of imperial palaces and gardens, imperial sacrificial buildings, ancient city management, national ceremonial and public buildings.

Renowned as "the backbone of Beijing", the Central Axis was initially established in the 13th century and has become the longest urban axis in the world today.

Over the past 700 years, it has witnessed the continuity and profound history of Chinese civilization, as well as the dynamic progress and the ever-renewing nature of the capital.
