(ECNS) -- Tesla announced on Saturday that its Shanghai Gigafactory had produced and exported its one-millionth China-made electric vehicle.

The milestone was marked by a batch of Tesla Model 3 vehicles shipped from Shanghai's Nangang Port to the UK, according to the company.

The Shanghai Gigafactory serves as a major export hub and production base for Tesla, with its products sold to multiple markets across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

It is also Tesla's fully self-designed Gigafacotry, integrating the four key production processes—stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly. This allows it to produce a vehicle every 30 seconds, with a localization rate for parts exceeding 95 percent.

Meanwhile, Tesla's Shanghai Energy Storage Gigafactory, located in Lingang, is accelerating construction.

By the end of September, more than 60 percent of the main factory building had been completed, with production expected to officially start in the first quarter of 2025. The factory is designed to produce 10,000 Megapack commercial energy storage batteries annually, with a storage capacity of nearly 40 GWh, serving the global market.
