(ECNS) -- Over 250,000 flowers will grace the Temple of Heaven Park in Beijing, enhancing the beauty of the ancient altar during the week-long National Day holiday starting on Oct. 1.

Visitors can partake in a range of activities, including cultural performances, interactive experiences with intangible cultural heritage, and thematic exhibitions, all designed to provide a vibrant and memorable holiday atmosphere.

Over 250,000 flowers grace the park for National Day celebration

Over 250,000 flowers will adorn the Temple of Heaven Park during the National Day holiday. Its thematic flowerbeds feature unique designs, with ground-planted flowers integrated into the green landscape of the ancient altar, while container gardens and floral arrangements decorate the main pathways.

The “Tuantuan Ruyi” (meaning runion and harmony) themed flowerbed, situated nearby the north gate of the park, spans an impressive 100 square meters, and features over 100,000 flowers. It is adorned with flowers such as begonias and tagetes, with the centerpiece designed as a “Ruyi” fan.

Notably, three areas featuring ribbon flowerbeds and flower borders collectively span an impressive 3,700 square meters.

Of this, a ground-planted flower border, located in a grassy area south of the square at the northeast outer altar, is first designed specifically for this year's National Day holiday, featuring hidden pathways and island beds that incorporate the park's unique flowers into a natural landscape.

With about 50,000 flowers covering nearly 2,000 square meters, the border offers a rich experience for visitors.

Moreover, the park showcases a variety of local flowers, including monthly roses, dahlias, and chrysanthemums, which are popular among visitors and locals alike.

Festive decorations create a joyful atmosphere

The park will display festive decorations at its main entrances, key areas, and major pathways, including holiday banners, themed flags, ornamental installations, and various lanterns.

On the east side of the square outside the north gate, a decorative installation themed "Celebrate China’s Prosperity Together, Build a Garden City" will attract visitors with its vibrant Chinese red color. Its design highlights traditional Chinese art, featuring intricate cutouts of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests alongside elements of landscapes and peonies.

At a wishing wall on the east side of the square inside the north second gate, visitors can choose from a variety of themed stickers featuring over ten different blessings, such as “I Love You, China” and “Wishing Blessings for Our Motherland.”

During the National Day holiday, the Temple of Heaven Park will hang “guoqing” (meaning National Day) banners outside the north, south, and west gates.

Additionally, 1,000 lanterns and 120 thematic flags will adorn both sides of the park's main pathways, ensuring a festive vibe.

Exhibition of ceramic arts put on display

The “Exhibition of Contemporary Ceramic Arts: Inheritance and Development in Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the PRC's founding” will open at the park during the National Day holiday.

The exhibition will gather works from over 40 contemporary ceramic artists, showcasing 39 pieces (or sets) in forms like ceramic paintings and sculptures. It will allow visitors to appreciate the unique charm of Chinese traditional culture and the brilliance of Chinese ceramic art.
