(ECNS) -- The first World Conference of Classics will be held in Beijing from Nov. 6 to 8, with the theme "Classical Civilizations and the Modern World."

It aims to provide a platform for classical civilization researchers and specialists to exchange ideas and foster consensus, according to its organizers.

The conference will invite representatives from various countries and international organizations, renowned experts and scholars, cultural figures, media professionals, think tank experts, and youth representatives to engage in in-depth discussions on classical civilizations.

“We hope that through this event, we can further explore the modern value of classical civilizations, contribute wisdom and strength to tackle problems facing the development of human society, promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations as well as new developments in global civilization,” said its organizers.

The conference seeks to trace the origins of human thought, distill wisdom from human history, and explore the traditions of human civilization from the perspective of classical studies.

“This will lay a solid academic foundation for promoting dialogue and exchange among civilizations, offer insight into modern problems, and provide new ideas that will drive human progress, thereby better promoting the building of a global community of shared future,” said its organizers.

During the conference, parallel forums will be held to discuss and exchange topics such as “The Logos and Spirit of Classical Civilizations,” “Classical Philology and Classical Traditions,” “Classical Studies and Mutual Learning between Civilizations,” “Classics and Chinese Historiography,”” An Ethical Dialogue between Confucianism and Ancient Greek Philosophy,” “Classical Wisdom and the Age of Digital Intelligence,” and “Classics and the Future of Humanity.”

Other activities include a Chinese classical art performance, classical studies themed activities held in colleges and universities, the “Exploring China” events held in Shandong, Henan, and Sichuan provinces, and special exhibitions such as Archaeology and the Origins of Chinese Civilization, The Countless Aspects of Beauty in Ancient Art: From the Collections of the Hellenic National Archaeological Museum and the exhibition of classical studies achievements.

The event is co-organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Ministry of Education of China, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, the Ministry of Culture of Greece, and the Academy of Athens.
