Insights | CIIE a big opportunity for global cooperation: on-site journalists
(ECNS) -- Journalists from around the world have gathered at the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), viewing it as a valuable platform that offers substantial opportunities for global enterprises.
The world's first national-level exposition dedicated to imports opened on Tuesday in Shanghai.
“This expo is a big opportunity for a lot of countries, including my country,” said Aleksanyan Gayane, a reporter from Armenia, who attended the CIIE for the first time. She pointed out that deepening bilateral cooperation is one of the themes the two countries are exploring.
Gayane noted that two months ago, Chinese airlines launched direct flights to Armenia, making travel more convenient. “Armenia companies will find new markets, new partners, and this (CIIE) is just the place for that,” she added.
Fred Mwasa, a journalist from Rwanda, explored Shanghai on the eve of the CIIE, where he saw photos depicting China’s transformation over the past three decades. Witnessing China’s remarkable progress left him both astonished and inspired.
"My country wants to know so much about China because they hear about some miracle happening somewhere," Fred said.
Reflecting on this year’s CIIE, he expressed that the Expo’s gathering of products from around the world was beyond his expectations. He also emphasized that China's economic development serves as a powerful example for many developing countries, with its experiences offering valuable insights worth adopting.
Raphael Bamidele Oni from Nigeria shared his delight at seeing the CIIE serve as a platform that unites countries from across the globe, embodying the spirit of a "global village." He highlighted that this platform allows nations to connect, fostering open communication and deepening mutual understanding.
Discussing his expectations for the CIIE, Oni noted the strong diplomatic ties between China and Nigeria, emphasizing that the Expo offers a valuable opportunity for both countries to build a shared future and for their citizens to benefit from collective development achievements. He added that Nigeria is eagerly looking forward to this year's Expo. "As soon as the opening ceremony begins, I'm going to report it back home. And so it's something that Nigeria is waiting for," he shared.
Ivan Shapkin from Russia mentioned that the Expo provides a cooperation platform for participants, allowing them to "find each other" and make collaborations more effective.
Nicolas Daniel Mancini, a reporter from Argentina, believes that the Import Expo is a very good opportunity for Argentine exhibitors. They can finalize many deals here, and such events also help promote economic and trade cooperation between Argentina and China.
Running from Tuesday to Sunday, the 7th CIIE has attracted about 3,500 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions. It also sets a new record with 297 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders attending the event.
