2024 Boao Forum For Asia Youth Summit held in Hong Kong
(ECNS) -- The 2024 Boao Forum For Asia Youth Summit (Hong Kong) was held Tuesday to encourage global youths to leverage their unique strengths and contribute to society.
Zheng Yanxiong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), said at the summit that local young people took the lead in science and technology, took the initiative to start businesses, won gold medals in the Olympic Games, and actively served society, demonstrating the infinite charm of "one country, two systems" and the bright future of the younger generation.
Zhang Jun, secretary general of Boao Forum for Asia, said the Youth Summit aims to explore major issues facing the world today as well as the role and contribution of youth in leading the future.
The young generation should have a long-term vision of international dialogue and cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win results, Zhang said.
Lawrence Lam, chairman of Hong Kong's Y. Elites Association, said as witnesses and participants of history, young people can initiate exchanges through the summit and shoulder the responsibility of promoting world progress and leading the trend of the times.
The summit, themed "Pioneering Tomorrow: Roles and Contributions of Youth," was co-hosted by Boao Forum for Asia and the Y. Elites Association. It is one of the major annual events of the Boao Forum for Asia and has been held in Hong Kong for seven times since 2009.
