Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from Sunday to Tuesday. Xi said that China is ready to work with all parties to build a just world of common development, and outlined China's eight actions for global development.

3. China's first deep-ocean drilling vessel commissioned
The Mengxiang, China's first domestically designed and built deep-ocean drilling vessel with a maximum drilling depth of 11 kilometers, was officially commissioned in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province on Sunday.
The vessel, spanning 179.8 meters in length and 32.8 meters in width, has a displacement of 42,600 metric tons. Boasting a range of 15,000 nautical miles, it is capable of self-sustenance for 120 days and accommodating 180 people.

4. Endangered orchid species rediscovered in China's Guangxi
A rare and endangered orchid species -- Hairy Lady's Slipper (paphiopedilum villosum) was found again at Huaping National Nature Reserve in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, according to local Forestry Bureau. The orchid species features vibrant green leaves, a long blooming period, and uniquely shaped flower patterns adorned with golden hues.

5. Seeds sent into orbit cultivated in S China
Crop seeds carried on board the Shiyan-19 experiment satellite have been cultivated at a breeding base in Sanya, south China's Hainan Province recently.
These seeds were exposed to cosmic radiation and microgravity to mutate their genes and cultivated upon returning to Earth.
Researchers will further conduct ground-based breeding experiments to obtain excellent mutations and cultivate superior new forage varieties with higher yield, better quality, and stronger resistance.

6. Large-scale Telecom fraud centers in northern Myanmar wiped out
China's Ministry of Public Security on Thursday declared that all large-scale telecom fraud centers located near the China-Myanmar border in northern Myanmar had been wiped out. The ministry said that in a recent law enforcement cooperation, 1079 suspects of cross-border telecommunications fraud were arrested in Myanmar.

7. Exhibition in Beijing showcases Greek civilization
Featuring a total of 279 pieces (sets) of artifact from 14 Greek museums, the exhibition "The Greeks: Agamemnon to Alexander the Great" will run until May 18, 2025 at the Capital Museum in Beijing.

8. Wild tiger injures villager in northeast China
A wild tiger was spotted in a village in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and injured a local resident on Monday. Heilongjiang Forestry and Grassland Administration held a meeting on the protection of Siberian tigers and the improvement of response capabilities in managing conflicts between humans and wildlife on Wednesday.

9. China Railway launches rail transport trial for lithium batteries
A train loaded with lithium batteries for traction purposes departed from a train station in Chongqing on Tuesday. Three trains loaded with lithium batteries for traction purposes departed separately from Chongqing, Guiyang in Guizhou Province and Yibin in Sichuan Province on Tuesday, marking the first large scale test run for rail transportation of such batteries in China.

10. China sees rapid growth in auto trade-ins
The Ministry of Commerce of China said on Tuesday that it had received over 4 million subsidy applications for trade-ins of passenger vehicles as of Monday. Now, people trading in an old car for a new energy vehicle are entitled to a 20,000 yuan ($2,781) subsidy.
