China's homegrown C919 aircraft starts trial operation of in-flight Wi-Fi service
(ECNS) -- A C919 passenger aircraft operated by China Eastern Airlines has started offering in-cabin local area network services, the airline announced on Thursday.
Using home-made equipment, this network provides passengers with a more diverse in-flight entertainment experience, making it possible to watch movies or play games with free Wi-Fi access.
The service system employs a high-speed gigabit Ethernet backbone ring network, enabling full-cabin HD video playback. It also includes interfaces for 5G wireless and satellite communications, facilitating more efficient and convenient future upgrades.
The airline authorities said this network is currently under trial operation and will be further enhanced. In the future, it will also cover the entire C919 fleet of China Eastern Airlines.
