Departing from southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, the train was fully loaded with electronics, machine parts and home appliances, which are to be distributed across Europe.

Duisburg, once a steel stronghold, has emerged as a key hub in the Belt and Road Initiative, with China-Europe freight trains playing a pivotal role in its transformation.

The China-Europe freight trains offer an affordable, efficient, and round-the-clock logistics solution for trade between Asia and Europe, significantly driving industrial transformation and socioeconomic development in cities along the route, said Chang Haitao, acting consul general of China in Dusseldorf, during a welcome ceremony held at the Duisburg's terminal.

Markus Bangen, CEO of Duisburger Hafen AG (Duisport), a German company running the port of Duisburg, noted that the past decade has witnessed a fruitful and effective partnership with their Chinese counterparts. They look forward to continuing to explore new opportunities for collaboration in the next ten years.

In March 2011, the first China-Europe freight train departed from Chongqing to Duisburg, establishing a direct overland trade corridor.

So far, the China-Europe freight train has delivered over 11 million TEUs of goods, with a total value exceeding $420 billion. It covers 227 cities across 25 European countries and more than 100 cities in 11 Asian countries.
