Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council mourns passing of Taiwan writer Chiung Yao

(ECNS) -- The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council expressed heartfelt condolences on the death of Chiung Yao (pen name), a bestselling Chinese romance writer, who passed away in New Taipei City at the age of 86.

Qiong Yao was a highly influential Taiwan writer who held deep affection for the mainland, said Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

She had played an active role in promoting cross-Straits literary exchanges and film and television collaborations, said Zhu.
