Foreign minister encourages U.S. business community to deepen cooperation with China

Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed the hope on Monday that the United States business community will continue to work with China to achieve greater development and make new contributions to the development of China-U.S. relations and the friendship between the two peoples.

Wang made the remarks in a group meeting with a delegation of board members from the U.S.-China Business Council in Beijing, the first U.S. business delegation to the country following the third plenary session of 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

A resolution adopted at the session put forward more than 300 important reform measures, which shall be completed by the time China celebrates its 80th founding anniversary in 2029, which Wang said will lay a solid foundation for advancing Chinese modernization.

Wang further briefed his U.S. guests about key measures on deepening reform of the resolution, particularly advancing high-level opening up, saying that China stands ready to strengthen exchanges with other countries on the basis of equality and mutual respect.

Noting China-U.S. relations is one of the most important bilateral ties in the world, Wang said China's policy toward the U.S. is stable and consistent.

China always handles its ties with U.S. on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, and stays committed to enhancing dialogue, managing differences and expanding cooperation with the U.S. to promote the improvement of bilateral ties, he said.

At the same time, Beijing also has its interests to uphold, principles to defend and bottom lines to adhere to, he added.

He hoped the council and its member enterprises to make more objective, positive and rational voices and present a true, multi-dimensional and panoramic view of China to U.S. government, Congress and peoples in the U.S..

By doing so, Wang said it could help promote the U.S. to have a right perception of China and stop suppression of the Chinese economy, trade, science and technology.

It is also conducive to facilitating China-U.S. people-to-people exchanges and promoting the stable and sound development of bilateral ties.

Members of the delegation said the third plenary session has sent an important signal of further deepening comprehensive reform and expected China would attract more sustainable foreign investment.

They expressed U.S. business community's confidence in China, saying they hoped to further deepen cooperation in areas such as economy, trade and investment.

They also committed to building robust and balanced U.S.-China relations, which the delegation said served the interests of two countries and two peoples.

The U.S.-China Business Council would positively leverage its roles and influences and become a stable force in developing U.S.-China ties, they said.
