China, Brazil create innovative microgrid demonstration project
(ECNS) -- The operation ceremony of campus microgrid technology project, conducted by China’s State Grid Corporation’s Brazilian unit CPFL, was held in Campinas, São Paulo State, in Brazil on Thursday.
This initiative, a joint collaboration between CPFL, State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), and HEXING Group based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, marks Brazil's first medium-voltage microgrid project.
Located on UNICAMP's campus, the microgrid integrates an advanced Energy Management System (EMS) with distributed energy resources, including photovoltaic panels, energy storage systems, and gas-powered generators. The system enables flexible energy management capabilities such as peak shaving and energy arbitrage.
Experts highlight this project as a milestone in Sino-Brazilian technological collaboration, combining innovative China’s solutions with equipment from both countries.
The State Grid has played a key role in advancing global adoption of China's cutting-edge power technologies, standards, and equipment, contributing to the host country’s green energy
transition and broader economic and social development.
The ceremony was attended by Chen Daobiao, chairman of CPFL, Antonio, rector of UNICAMP, as well as over 100 representatives from the São Paulo state government, Campinas municipal government, the China Electric Power Research Institute, and HEXING Group.
