Foreign ministry: U.S. gesture on Taiwan goes backward and out of shape in past 40 years

China firmly opposed the wrong words of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken about the Taiwan region, which are against the consensus reached between China and the U.S. when the two countries established diplomatic ties, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Monday.

The United States should abide by the One-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques, the important consensus and political foundation of the two countries, said Zhao.
