Li, 84, is an academician at Wuhan University. He has successfully developed core technologies for global high-precision positioning and mapping using satellite remote sensing.

Xue, 61, is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He and his team have made two major scientific discoveries -- quantum anomalous Hall effect and interface-enhanced high-temperature superconductivity in heterostructure systems, both of which have a great academic impact internationally.

Xue also served as vice president of Tsinghua University and is now president of Southern University of Science and Technology.
