The Arbitration Award has become a "troublemaker" for peace and stability in the South China Sea, a "disruptor" to the bilateral relations between China and the countries concerned, and a "roadblock" the full and effective implementation of the DOC and the steady progress of the COC consultations, a Chinese expert said.

Wu Shicun, chairman of the Huayang Center for Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance and director of the Academic Committee of the National Institute for South China Sea Studies, made the remarks at a press conference on Thursday.

The Arbitration Award has an extremely negative impact on political mutual trust between China and the Philippines at all levels, he added.

A report titled "Report: Critique of the South China Sea Arbitration Award" jointly written by Huayang Research Center for Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance, National Institute for South China Sea Studies and Chinese Society of International Law was released at the press conference.
