(W.E. Talk) China tackles protectionism and champions global openness: expert
The 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting was held in Lima, Peru in mid-November. Zhang Yansheng, researcher of the Chinese Academy of Macroeconomic Research, said in the latest W.E. Talk that the Asia-Pacific countries advocate open regionalism and oppose trade protectionism, despite challenges in the global environment.
Zhang further pointed out that despite the challenges, the innovation, digital and green transitions brought about by the fourth industrial revolution offers unprecedented development opportunities for the Asia-Pacific region. As an important growth pole of the global economy, China is contributing to the growth of the Asia-Pacific and even the global economy through credible efforts to expand domestic demand and imports.
