"Competition between the U.S. and China is inevitable, but it needs to be smart," said Josef Gregory Mahoney, a professor of politics and international relations at East China Normal University.

In an interview with China News Network during the 2024 "Understanding China" International Conference in Guangzhou, Mahoney emphasized that competition between the two countries should not evolve into a zero-sum game.

At a time when the Global South faces multiple challenges such as climate change, pandemics, and regional conflicts, the world needs greater cooperation to promote shared well-being. (By Wu Xinru and Zhao Li)
