With the approval of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), the newly-revised Decoration and Facility Standard for Barrack Buildings of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has been issued by the PLA General Logistics Department (GLD) for implementation in the whole army.
This is the first revision of the Standard since it was issued for implementation in 1988. The new version mainly reflects such requirements for the decoration and facilities in the barrack buildings as serving military operations, being IT-based intelligent, energy-saving and environment-friendly. The new Standard sets rigid regulations concerning practicing economy and avoiding luxuriousness.
The new Standard gives detailed criteria in 12 items for the decoration and facility collocation of 9 types of barracks. To comply with the criteria, the decoration materials must be economical, durable, beautiful to look at and easy to use.
The new Standard not only meets the demands of the troops for modern barracks under IT-based conditions, but also attaches more importance to energy conservation and environment protection.
The Standard is the PLA's basic gauge of decoration and facility configuration for barrack buildings, so it is compulsory for all the PLA units to implement the Standard in the process of barracks building decoration and facility collocation. The Chinese People's Armed Police Force (APF)shall implement the Standard for reference.
