The general-purpose equipment support department under the General Armaments Department (GAD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has made a public announcement of the first batch of bid-winning units in the competitive procurement of maintenance equipment of the general-purpose armaments in 2015. Five military and civilian units have won the bidding of six procurement items.
The total price of the six categories of items offered by the five civil and military units is lower than the base bid price by 12 million yuan (US$1.93 million).
The competitive procurement of maintenance equipment was carried out for the first time on the PLA armaments procurement information website. The eight categories of equipment open for tenders include the maintenance equipment container, the anti-chemical mask bag, the portable equipment bag and the field explosion-proof lighting instruments with the total base bid price exceeding 90 million yuan ($14.50 million), which attracted over 20 civil and military units to bid.
In the next step, they will expand the coverage of competitive procurement and invite more military and civil tenders, a leader of the procurement center of the general-purpose equipment support department under the GAD told PLA Daily.
