China and Singapore pledged to deepen military cooperation in hopes of making contributions to regional peace and stability, Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan said in Beijing on Tuesday.
Chang, also a state councilor, made the remarks during a meeting with Ng Chee Meng, Singapore's Chief of Defense Force.
China attaches great importance to China-Singapore ties and regards Singapore as an important partner, Chang said.
The Chinese military is willing to make joint efforts with Singapore's defense force to strengthen cooperation and communication in various fields, Chang said.
Ng Chee Meng said it was his first official visit to China since taking office. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Singapore-China diplomatic ties. He said his visit is "meaningful".
Singapore is willing to further cooperation with China in the fields of delegation visits, joint training and personnel training, Ng Chee Meng said.
