Gen. Zhao Keshi, member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and director of the General Logistics Department (GLD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with the visiting Deputy Chief of Staff of the Finnish Defense Forces Lieutenant General Raimo Jyväsjärvi in Beijing on April 13.

In recent years, China and Finland have achieved fruitful results in the exchange and cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, culture, science, education and tourism. The military-to-military relations, as an important part of the relations between the two countries, have been keeping a positive momentum of development, said Gen. Zhao.

The general staff headquarters of the Chinese PLA and the Finnish Defense Forces established the annual working dialogue mechanism in April 2008 and the pragmatic cooperation in various professional fields is developing vigorously, Zhao added.

Zhao told his Finnish counterpart that the Chinese PLA always attaches importance to the logistics construction and expects to learn advanced experience in logistics support from foreign militaries. He expected the two militaries to constantly deepen their exchange in the logistics field and strengthen pragmatic cooperation in personnel training, logistics scientific research and military-civilian integration.

In recent years, the relations between Finland and China have been developing smoothly under the basis of equal benefit and mutual respect, Jyväsjärvi said, adding that the Finland attaches importance to developing military-to-military relations with China and the Finnish Defense Forces is willing to share the experience in military logistics support construction with the Chinese PLA.

He believed that his visit to China will certainly further boost the exchange and cooperation between the two militaries in the logistics field and promote the relations between the two militaries to a new high.
