After eight years, the jet bombers have returned to the aviation academies of the PLA Air Force and become the training aircraft again for bomber cadet pilots on Sunday.
According to sources, the jet bombers were decommissioned from the PLA aviation academies in 2007 and replaced by a type of propeller-powered bomber.
The jet bombers returned to the aviation academies this time are still in active service in the PLA Air Force's combat troops, where they are mainly responsible for performing such tasks as strategic and tactical bombing, reconnaissance, anti-ship operation, patrol and monitoring, etc," said an officer from the military training department of the PLA Air Force.
With active jet bombers put into training, the cadet pilots will be able to acquire real combat capability in the academies, which will help shorten the training cycle of pilots for bombers and transporters, said a senior flight instructor from a combat troop of the PLA Air Force.
