Gen. Fang Fenghui, member of China's Central Military Commission and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with Gen. Peter Bartram, the visiting Danish chief of defense in Beijing on June 16. Both sides had in-depth exchange of views on the international and regional security situations, state and military relations between the two countries and other issues.
President Xi Jinping and Queen Margrethe II exchanged congratulatory messages to each other in May this year on the 65th anniversary of the China-Denmark diplomatic relations, expressing their wishes to work jointly to push forward the development of the relations between the two countries, said Fang Fenghui.
He added that China is willing to work with Denmark to earnestly implement the important consensuses reached by the leaders of the two countries, further strengthen exchange and cooperation in such fields as peacekeeping, naval escort operations and military academic research, and make new contributions to the development of the China-Denmark bilateral relations and relations between the two militaries in the new historical period.
Bartram said that the Danish Defense force is willing to work with the Chinese PLA to expand the pragmatic cooperation and exchange between the two militaries and further exploit the cooperation potentials.
Fang Fenghui held a welcome ceremony for Bartram and accompanied him to inspect the three-service honor guard of the PLA prior to the talks.
Friis Arne Petersen, Danish ambassador to China, attended the above activities.
