The professional blue army of the PLA Air Force debuted on July 3 in the "Firepower 2015•Shandan A" trans-MAC live-fire drill held by the air defense troops of the PLA Army.
The professional blue army is set up on the basis of an aviation brigade of the air force. It is equipped with advanced China-made fighters, and its pilots, including a number of "Gold Helmet" winners, come from different aviation units of the air force.
In the "Firepower 2015•Shandan A" exercise, the army air defense troops came across tough and tricky rivals made up of the fighter planes, helicopters, jammers and ground electronic radars with the air force's blue army brigade as the main player.
Quite some commanding officers of the red army in the exercise said that their troops seldom engaged in real confrontations with a strong professional blue army like this one in the past, and that though they were not used to fighting this way for the time being, fighting such a master hand would produce remarkable effects in improving the troops' actual combat capability and updating the operational concept of the army air defense force.
