A PLA Navy fleet entered on Sunday the designated waters of the West Pacific for routine high sea training after passing through the Miyako Strait.
The fleet from the East China Sea Fleet of the PLA Navy is composed of the guided missile destroyer Changchun, missile frigate Changzhou and the comprehensive replenishing ship Chaohu as well as ship-borne helicopters.
The upcoming training is a routine arrangement included in the annual training plan, it aims to test the comprehensive ability of the command posts at all levels and the ships to perform missions and tasks, highlighting the application of the command information system and of the performance examination of weapons, said Lu Feiyun, commanding officer of the fleet and head of a destroyer flotilla of the East China Sea Fleet.
The three Chinese naval ships went through relevant international waterways and sea areas according to international laws and practices, and properly disposed of various sea and air situations complying to Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea and other international rules on their voyage to the West Pacific.
