China, Malaysia pledge to deepen military cooperation

Vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission Fan Changlong met with Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein on Thursday afternoon, pledging to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries.

Fan said China attaches great importance to military-to-military ties with Malaysia and stands ready to work with Malaysia to keep high-level visits, enhance pragmatic cooperation and strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs.

Fan also appreciates Malaysia's important role in ASEAN.

Hishammuddin Hussein said Malaysia is willing to make joint efforts with China to deepen security cooperation, handle with challenges together, to promote communication and cooperation between the two militaries.

The Malaysian Defense Minister will attend an informal meeting between Chinese and ASEAN defense ministers and the sixth Xiangshan Forum in Beijing.
